Avoiding hypotension is essential. There should be a low threshold for initiation of a vasopressor infusion (e.g., norepinephrine), even while fluid resuscitation is ongoing.
Brain Trauma Foundation guidelines recommend the following blood pressure targets:
18-49 years old: systolic BP >110 mmHg
50-69 years old: systolic BP >100 mmHg
>70 years old: systolic BP >110 mmHg
